Choosing the right suite at The Darling
Three suite categories, twenty-one floors and two different views. This guide maps the categories to the stays they suit, including the floors regulars ask for.
The Darling's rooms divide into three real categories, and the gap between them is bigger than the price suggests. Choosing well matters more here than at most hotels because the category decides the floor, and the floor decides the view and the noise.
Deluxe Kings start around seventy square metres. Jewel Suites add a corner position and a separate lounge. Penthouses add a terrace, a dining room and a level of privacy the lower categories cannot match.
Deluxe King: the baseline that beats most rivals
Seventy square metres, a proper bath, a dressing area and a bathroom that fits two people at once. Floors eight to fifteen, city or hinterland aspect. For a two-night stay where the room is for sleeping, it is more than enough.
Ask for levels twelve and up. Below that the hinterland rooms look at the podium roof on some angles.

Jewel Suite: the corner pick
The corner position is the point: two walls of glass, the ocean on one side and the city on the other. The separate lounge makes it the right room for a longer stay or for hosting a drink before dinner.
The Jewel corner at sunrise is the view people photograph. It is also the room that books out first on event weekends.
Jewel Suites are the category returning guests ask for by room number. If a favourite from a previous stay is free, our desk can request it directly.
Penthouse: when the room is the stay
Terrace, dining table for eight, and a butler on request. Penthouses suit the stay where the room is the venue: anniversaries, small pre-dinner gatherings, or the guest who simply wants the best the tower holds.
Whichever category, specify floor and aspect in the request. Category books a room type; the request books the actual room.

Common questions on this topic
Levels seventeen and above are the quietest and hold the clearest views. Lower floors are still calm, but the podium roof intrudes on some hinterland aspects.
For stays of three nights or more, or if you plan to spend evenings in the room, yes. For a bed-between-sessions stay, the Deluxe is hard to fault.
